What Do You Want?

The Bible tells us that God will, “supply all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”  It goes further by saying He can do, “exceedingly, abundantly more than we can ask or even imagine.”

So why is there emptiness inside me?  Why do I lack?  Why do I see such gaping holes in my finances, my happiness, my soul?

I look to my job for fulfillment, sad but true.  I look to my wife to make me happy.  I look to money to supply what I need.  I look to discipline and routine to make me a better person.  I trust no one and rest in nothing.

Oh God!  I have looked to what can never complete me.  I have placed my confidence in only myself.  Why?!  You are God!  You are King!  You are Jehovah!  What foolishness possesses me to believe I could do better than YOU?  What insanity overtakes my intellect so that I believe that You are less than what You are?

If I should starve to death, but find You, my need is met.  Should I never taste sweet kisses or know the rushing torrent of sexual intimacy again, but hear your voice, I will know love.  If all that I have lived for; house, cars, guitars, shiny, superfluous, nothing, if everything was gone, and all that was left to me was Your presence, I would be rich.

What do I want?  I want You.  You are my need.  You are my love, my fulfillment, my peace and strength.

I want you.
